She spent 19 years working in the Oakland Unified School District as an elementary, middle school (French) and resource teacher, as well as a staff developer and program coordinator. She has also taught Italian at UC Berkeley. She holds California credentials as a teacher and administrator as well as special authorizations in technology and bilingual education (BCLAD-Spanish). Peretti holds a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Analysis from the University of California, Berkeley, and has research interests in Diversity in Education, Educational Equity, Ethnic Issues, Multicultural Education and Teacher Development.
